Life-changing happening / KK OUTLET

The launch of Benrik's new book was accompanied by an exhibition in London recently, in which authors and artists Benrik revived the "happening". Over one hundred participants submitted to on-the-spot speed-life-change, which included being caned by a dominatrix, given a quote for plastic surgery by a qualified doctor, blessed by a voodoo priest, chanted at by a Hare Krishna and tattooed by a tattoo artist. Doomsday Book / NGCA

Benrik's work was featured in the Northern Gallery of Contemporary Art's exhibition "A Modest Proposal" (July-September 2008), which reviewed satirical modes of political engagement in recent art. The "Diary Will Change Your Life" received a mini-retrospective. Benrik also created a specific piece for the exhibition, a modern "Doomsday Book", in which visitors were asked to volunteer for the resistance against any future totalitarian state, to be kept safe by the artists in the meantime.
